“We have it within our power to make the world over again”

Thomas Payne 1776

The G.E.T. PURPOSE: "To certify physical education teachers so they can empower their students with: sexual assault prevention training, abduction defense and bully defense."

Commonly Known Facts

❶ Sexual assault: 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys before the age of 18 years

❷ 14% of sexual assault victims are 0 to 5 years, 20.10%: 6-11 years, 32.80% 12 to 17 years

❸ Bullying statistics: Nearly 1 in 3 students (27.8%) report being bullied during the school year (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2013)

❹ College Sexual assaults: one in five college students experiences sexual assault during their college career, 95% goes unreported

❺ Stranger abductions: According to the The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, more than 58,000 children were abducted by non-family members (1999 study)

❻ 1 in 6 endangered runaways reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in 2014 were likely sex trafficking victims.

❼ In 2013, there were a total of 60,956 instances of child sexual abuse reported to Child Protective Services agencies in the U.S. This statistic does not include "unreported" cases.

Our goal is that self-defense is required to be taught in all schools, nation-wide.

Case in point:

✎ Self-Defense training is part of the California State Curriculum physical education standards .Self-defense is required to be taught in grades 10-12th to girls and boys.

✎ In 2010, California State Bill 1290 passed and allows school districts to provide self-defense training as part of the standard physical education curriculum for students in grades 7-12.

Even though it can be taught, it's NOT!

✎ The school districts don't have the money to find outside training or have their teachers certified to teach it.

✎ Obviously the "train the trainer" model will be the most cost efficient and reach the most students.

✎ By teaching students in P.E., self-defense training is no longer a luxury "life skill" taught after school but becomes a "life-skill" that all students will have access to.

For example:

• Number of Middle Schools in San Diego County (including SDUSD): 112
• Number of High Schools in San Diego County (including SDUSD): 143

If you estimate that each teacher teaches 5 classes of 45-50 students…then each teacher could reach between 225- 250 kids.

So if you trained 2 teachers from each middle or high school, you could

POTENTIALLY reach between 114,750 and 127,500 students.

We utilize the “Play It Safe Defense” program that has taught tens of thousands of children necessary methods of protection. Other programs as they are developed will be included in our skill set.

Current project potential between 22,500 and 23,000 children per year by certifying 100 Physical Education Teachers

Based up the above figures it is less than

$3.50 per child!

On the getgylanic.org website you can use the memo area to specify a State, County, School District or School that you want your donation to be applied to. The Funds in that account will then accrue until sufficient funds are accumulated to send a training team to the designated school/district to train your Physical Educa- tion Teachers.

• Each P.E. Teacher has 5 to 6 classes of 40/50 (200-300) students a day.
• Families of these students could donate or fund raise just $25.00 each to train their child’s P.E. Teacher i.e. (250 X $25.00 a dona- tion of $6,250.00 which could be sufficient for a school district.)
• We recommend that students receive 4 weeks of self-protection defense training in P.E. then a monthly training for the balance of the school year.
• Age appropriate training is taught for differing age groups and their evolving needs.
• Email GET for details of number of P.E. Teachers in a specific district needed for a training session.
• Our team could be in your school safeguarding your children now.

Thank you for empowering us to empower them!

• Individually we are the force that can make the world over again.

• Down load the 16 page booklet and distribute it to your family and friends, educators, church and service organizations.

• Organize discussion groups for adults, female teens and pre-teens.

• Organize discussion groups led by men to educate boys.

We Train Physical Education Teachers to Empower Children

We train Physical Education teachers in schools to empower children from elementary school through 12th grade with age appropriate skills to protect themselves from potential sexual abuse, abduction, and bullying, “With Physical Skills, Awareness, Boundaries and Confidence.” Our programs are funded by Grants, Private Donations and School Resources. How can we change the actions, minds and hearts of the victims and the offenders? Board Members of the Gylanic Education Trust are individuals who in their professional lives have long histories of working with victims of sexual assault and abuse. We recognize that to affect a change we must begin training children at early ages the skills of awareness of inappropriate touch from family, acquaintances, or strangers and sexual assault and abduction defense skills and dealing with bullies. This early training will teach all children that sexual assault is inappropriate and thus change potential victims and offenders.

The definition of Gylany:

A social system based on equality of men and women.
